Stardust Market Garden, Farm Shares
For the 2019 season we're expanding our humble CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model for our most loyal and yet-to-be-loyall customers. You help us plan for the season and we help you commit to eating healthy and local! $200 of farm credit that you can redeem in any number of ways.
What is Consumer Supported Agriculture (CSA)?
One of the barriers to small local food production systems is there is a lot of labor and money that goes into growing vegetables and other foods, months, or even years, before the product is available for sale. Traditionally the producer would either need to carry this financial burden themselves or take out a loan which is what makes farming such a risky business. CSA’s are a way to show small farms you support the work they are doing and are willing to help front some of the ‘risk’ by prepaying for yet-to-be-grown farm goods.
What do you get?
*Prioritized input on the kind of crops you want us to grow
*Prioritized selection of crops in season (ie, we won't sell them at Market until we've met your demand)
*Updates specific to our Farm Share folks. You'll know more about what's going in with the growing season, get our favorite recipes, and be our first choice for U-pick of any crops gone wild.
*$200 of credit to shop for your chosen crops (vegetables, herbs, nuts, possible fruit)
*Different pickup options: at the Fairland Farmers Market (just shop like normal but be debited rather than pay money), come by our farm in Fairland, or, within reason, you can tell us what you'd like and we can deliver.
Compared to other Farm Share/CSA programs around the country, ours is different in that:
*$200 is comparatively low. It might go by very fast for some of you, in which case we can discuss other options.
*This is a 'choose-your-own credit' system meaning you can spend as little or as much as you like of your credit each week. It's adapted to how often you want vegetables and what you like to eat. This is NOT a CSA box program (weekly box of in-season vegetables that we choose).
This would make a great holiday or birthday gift for someone in the winter: many delicious meals to look forward to!
Also, we're not entirely out of products even in winter time, so you can start debiting against your payment right now if you like. Here's our current Fresh Sheet:
For payment, we can:
*Take checks written to Kelda Lorax, 405 E. Church Ave, Fairland OK 74343 (though if you don't plan to buy until 2018 we won't cash the check until January),
*or Paypal sent to Kelda@RiseUp.net,
*or if you're interested in using EBT/SNAP let us know; we're still in the process of setting that up.
