West River Youth Sports – Code of Conduct

Youth sports play an important role in promoting the emotional and physical development of our student athletes. Respectful behavior and good sportsmanship are essential for parents, coaches, and athletes. All adults involved should always be modeling good sportsmanship and lead by example.

Parents/Spectators/Coaches will follow the policy below:

1.     I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.

2.     I (and my guest) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice, or sporting event.

3.     I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, players, or parent such as booing and taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane language or gestures.

4.      I will demand that my child treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.

I hereby agree that if I fail to conform my conduct to the Youth Sports Code of Conduct, I will be subject to disciplinary action including, but not limited to the following depending on the severity of the offense: 1. Verbal or Written warning 2. Suspension or ejection from the current youth sports games 3. Suspension from all future youth sports games.

I therefore pledge (by digitally signing below) to be responsible for my actions and words while attending a youth sporting event.

*
I, as a parent or guardian of above child, understand and agree that the West River Youth Basketball, it's board and coaches; Leland & Gray Middle/High School, it's board and staff; and the Good Sports and affiliate school will not assume responsibility for any accidents, medical expenses or dental expenses as a result of my child's participation in this league.  By typing my name below I testify to the above and to the belief that my child is in good health and able to participate in vigorous physical activity of this program.  I also authorize the coaches and directors of the league to act for me according to their best judgment in any emergency associated with the program.
