Urban Rural Connection Project's Priority Issue Committee Application
ALF Oregon is thrilled that you are interested in serving on a Priority Issue Committee of the Urban Rural Connection Project. The second phase of this project begins with identifying Senior Fellows, Regional Dialogue participants and other experienced leaders to come together to work towards solutions for three issues frequently discussed during the Regional Dialogue conversations.

The Priority Issues are:
- Diversity, equity and inclusion
- Connectivity and access to the Internet
- Land use laws and other laws and regulations that instill the sense of disenfranchisement

We will form three committees with each dedicated to one of these issues. Each committee will be tasked with diving deeper into its issue and developing community-based solutions that can be implemented over a timeframe from May - December.

The goal is not to solve these problems but advance solutions. Think of each committee as an injection of time, expertise, and leadership into one challenge facing Oregon communities everyday. Committees may choose to focus on one community, a region, or across Oregon.

In addition to advancing one solution, each committee will also contemplate and describe the collaboration, problem-solving, and team building of their group. The product then for each participant is not just the immersion into one challenge and a solution, but to also benefit from trained facilitators and the team experience.

Regional Dialogue summaries of each of these issues will be forthcoming, along with additional readings and resources on each of the Priority Issues.

COMMUNITY BUILDING RETREAT

We will launch the second phase with a Community Building Retreat at the OSU Cascades campus in Bend, Oregon May 17th - 18th. Committees will create the foundation of their effort here. It will be to the benefit of the committee that all members join this event.

May 17th - 11:30 am - 5:30pm, followed by group dinner 6:30pm - 9:00pm
May 18th - 8:00am - 4:45pm

Through the generosity of our our funders, a night's stay at OSU-Cascades campus and meals will be provided from lunch on Friday, May 17th through lunch on Saturday, May 18th, with travel snacks available on Saturday's ride home. We unfortunately cannot cover all travel costs, but, we want to do our best to ensure that travel costs will not prohibit anyone from participating. Look for associated questions regarding travel stipends in the following application.

FOLLOWING MEETINGS

In partnership with ALF Oregon staff, each committee will need to plan a schedule of meeting times. ALF Oregon will provide online conferencing and in-person meeting coordination, along with travel and project budgets for each committee.

Applications are due by 11:59PM on April 5, 2019. We will contact you by April 15th to confirm your appointment on a committee. More questions? Please contact Kelley Whitmore at kwhitmore@alfo.org or 503.636-8822 (office).
