West GYSTC/ UWG Field Trips    2024-2025 School Year

Field Trips to the West Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center are a fun and educational experience for students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Through the partnership with University of West Georgia, students will have the opportunity to explore the College of Education Innovations Lab, tour the campus, and meet professors from different departments and participate in the West GYSTC STEM Lab.
Students will automatically experience the College of Education Innovations lab and the Campus Tour.  Teachers will then have a choice for the third rotation for their field trip:  

UWG Waring Archaeology Lab
UWG Geology Department
STEM Lab (Activity based on grade level standard, Star Lab Planetarium or Robotics & Coding)

All STEM Lab lessons are customized to standards and grade level appropriate.
We can accommodate up to 120 students or four class rotations per day.  A minimum of 30 students are required to hold a field trip.
Field Trips are scheduled by appointment only.
The cost is $10 per student/adult for member districts (teachers & paras free) and $16 per student/adult for non member districts.
Feel free to enjoy your sack lunch on the lawn at the Education Center.

We are excited you have chosen the West GYSTC/UWG field trip. Two of your rotations will consist of the COE Innovations Lab and the UWG Campus Tour.   You have a choice of the UWG Waring Archaeology Lab, UWG Geology Department, UWG Physics Department or the West GYSTC STEM Lab.

Arrival time is any time between 9:30 a.m.-9:50 a.m.  At this time we will gather lunches, unload and all come together for a Welcome and Logistics talk.  Rotations can beginning at 9:50 a.m. and we will rotate through your three to four chosen rotations. These will include the UWG Innovations Lab, the UWG campus tour, WGYSTC STEM Lab (or specific UWG Department), & Lunch & STEM.   If a group of 75 students or less attend, we will finish up with lunch time on the Education Center lawn.  If weather doesn't permit, we will provide a classroom for lunch to be eaten.
