SCO Workshop Proposal Application
WAVES welcomes innovative, diverse, and engaging presentations designed to educate and inspire administrators supporting veterans and their families in higher education.  Please complete the application below in full to be considered as a presenter for WAVES 2025.  

All workshop proposals must be received by May 16, 2025 to be considered.

Workshop Format *
  • Presentation -  An in-depth examination of a topic (with 1 or more presenters) providing information, ideas, or insights designed to educate, inform, persuade, or inspire the audience. Should include at least 10 or more minutes for Q&A or discussion time.  
  • Panels - A structured session (with 3-5 panelists) that shares insights on a specific topic, followed by interactive dialogue with the audience to explore diverse perspectives and solution.
  • Demonstration -  An interactive session (with 1 or more presenters) featuring discussions, brainstorming, or hands-on activities designed to engage participants and achieve specific learning goals.

Submission Criteria Acknowledgement
Please review and acknowledge the submission criteria and information provided below.
Outline Submission Requirement *
All submissions must include a detailed written outline to be considered. Outlines should include, but not limited to the following elements:
  1. Title and Objectives

    • Title of the training session.
    • Clear learning objectives or goals (what participants will learn or achieve).
  2. Target Audience

    • Identify the skill level (e.g., beginner, intermediate, advanced)
  3. Introduction

    • Brief overview of the topic.
    • Relevance to the audience and its importance.
  4. Content Overview

    • Key topics or sections to be covered, organized logically.
    • Subtopics or supporting points under each section.
  5. Interactive Elements

    • Planned activities (e.g., Q&A sessions, group discussions, hands-on exercises, role-playing).
    • Time allocated for each interactive segment.
  6. Visual and Multimedia Aids

    • List of visuals (slides, videos, diagrams) and their purpose in supporting the content.
  7. Learning Materials

    • Resources provided (handouts, guides, tools, or links).
  8. Time Management

    • Estimated time for each section or activity to ensure the session stays on track.
  9. Conclusion

    • Summary of key points.
    • Takeaways or actionable steps for participants.
  10. Evaluation and Feedback

  • Plan for collecting feedback or assessing participant understanding (e.g., surveys, quizzes).
SCO Workshop Proposal Review Criteria *
Submissions will be reviewed based on the following qualities:
  • Originality: Explores new ideas, projects, or issues; introduces new research; or offers fresh perspectives on existing information.
  • Engagement: Stimulates discussion and actively involves the audience.
  • Significance: Addresses key issues to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of veteran education efforts, with content that can be widely understood and shared.
  • Quality: Supported by sufficient data and delivers actionable best practices.
  • Clarity: Clearly outlines session objectives and intended outcomes.
  • Relevance: Focuses on topics pertinent to educating those who serve veterans and their families.

Workshop Proposal Selection Disclaimer *
WAVES training sessions are primarily led by the VA's National Training Team and other partner agencies. With limited SCO-led workshop slots, submissions are selected through a rigorous review process. Please ensure this submission provides as detailed overview as possible to assist the selection committee in their evaluation. You may email additional proposal information to scoworkshop@us-waves.org.

Selectees Requirements *
SCO-led workshop selectees will be required to provide the selection commitee with all slide show presentations and workshop materials by MM/DD/YY. Additionally, all presenters are required to provide a photo headshot and bio by MM/DD/YY.
