Community Conversations w/ AAPI Trailblazers: Godfrey Santos Plata, California State Assembly Candidate in CA-53 (D)
During the month of August, We Are AAPI is highlighting AAPI Democratic candidates running for office in battleground states and districts. 2020 is an unprecedented election cycle and we believe the AAPI community can play a crucial role in supporting these trailblazing leaders on their way to making history.

Our fourth candidate conversation is with Godfrey Santos Plata, CA-53 Candidate for California State Assembly and a Democrat brave enough to to run against a 3-term Assemblymember. If elected, he would be the first person elected in 140 years of assembly history to be both an immigrant and an out member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Join us to discuss his progressive candidacy, platform, and why the AAPI vote is important in 2020 and beyond.

Date and Time:
Wednesday, August 19, 7:30 - 8:30pm ET

Bio:
Godfrey Santos Plata is a Filipino immigrant, renter, educator, and organizer running to represent the 53rd district in California’s State Assembly. A former public school teacher and an organizer against the school to prison pipeline, Godfrey fights to build power for communities of color. In addition to being a queer Filipino immigrant, he'd be just the second renter to join the 80-person assembly, putting him in position to be a critical advocate for tenant rights as rent prices and homelessness increase.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, August 18, 8pm EST. The Zoom link will be sent to all attendees prior to the conversation.
