Delco Unplugged is a growing community of families across Delaware County, PA, working to shift the norms around smartphones and social media. We’re building a supportive space where we can learn from one another, share experiences, and talk openly about how technology has changed childhood (and what we can do about it). Together, we’re working to make thoughtful, informed choices about when and how to introduce it.

By taking the pledge, you’re joining families committed to delaying smartphones and social media until high school. This is a tool for connection, not comparison or judgement. We believe when families make this decision together, it becomes more sustainable, less isolating, and a little easier to say "not yet."

Pledge

As a family, we commit to waiting until at least 9th* grade to give our child(ren) a smart phone and delay access to social media until age 16. Prior to high school, we will explore “talk and text” only devices for communication needs.

I've already given my child(ren) a smartphone, but would like to learn more about how to encourage healthy use and/or explore delaying for my younger child(ren).
