2018 EYH Volunteer Application
Expanding Your Horizons is a conference designed to engage young ladies aged 5th-9th grade in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).  The girls will come to campus for one day of hands-on activities and interactions with STEM role models.  Our goals are to inspire the young ladies, build their confidence, and introduce them to career fields they may have never thought possible.

Welcome to the team!  
Volunteers help create a fun and safe EYH conference.  We have opportunities for group leaders, workshop assistants, and several other helpers throughout the day.

Depending on the position you choose, you may work with faculty, students, workshop leaders, and other volunteers.  You may also interact with parents or other campus visitors.  You will be an ambassador for Vol State, so let your positive attitude and energy shine through!

Remember that safety is our first priority, and our goals are to encourage the young ladies, make them feel empowered, and introduce them to new ideas, relationships, and opportunities!
Group Leaders
Group Leaders play a very special role at EYH.  You will work with a group of 6-10 girls and 2-3 other group leaders.  You are there to mentor and support the girls, help them feel comfortable, boost their confidence, encourage teamwork, and create a positive group experience.  You will supervise and escort the students to their assigned workshops.  

You are here to be their cheerleader!  Encourage them to participate in the hands-on STEM workshops and share what it's like to be a college student.  Group Leaders will assist the workshop leaders if needed, eat lunch with the girls, and help with dismissal and cleanup at the end of the conference.
