The National Junior Honor Society Faculty Council will employ the following guidelines for membership:
        1. Any student who wishes to apply to the National Junior Honor Society must have an overall grade point average of 90.00% or above during the 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR UP UNTIL APPLYING FOR NJHS.

          2. Student must have PARTICIPATED in TWO or MORE UIL events in the 2023-2024 school year OR candidate must type/write a TWO PAGE paper indicating and explaining why student would make a perfect candidate for NJHS. In detail explain past achievements, leadership qualities, community involvement, extracurricular activities, etc.  

         3. Students with disciplinary referrals that have resulted in assignment to ISS or  
         DAEP WILL NOT be considered for membership in the organization.

         4. THREE Recommendations from candidates' current teachers will be solicited by the student.

         5. The CLASSIFIED Faculty Council will determine the actual selection of members to the National Junior Honor Society based on the criteria of scholarship, service, leadership, and character determined by the students' application.
 
         6. The Faculty Council will review the students' application, teacher recommendations, and administration feedback member recommendations forms, and any other verifiable information about each candidate to make their decision.

         7. Candidates meeting all of the expectations will be inducted into the MHMS chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.

Requirements for possible NJHS Induction
1. Student must hold at least a cumulative grade point average of 90% or above in all courses for the entirety of the 2023-2024 school year.

2. Student must have competed in at least 2 UIL academic events in the 2022-2023 school year OR 2 page typed paper (explained in guidelines)

3. Student will NOT have had any disciplinary referrals that had resulted in assignment to ISS, DAEP, or suspension in the 2022-2023 school year.
 
4. Student must elicit and be recommended by 3 of their 2023-2024 teachers. (NOT THE NJHS ADVISOR'S JOB TO MAKE SURE TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS OR ANY DOCUMENTS ARE TURNED IN OR BEING WORKED ON, it is the possible candidate's main responsibility.)

I understand and agree to follow all guidelines outlined by the National Junior Honor Society Constitution and by the Mary Harper Middle School NJHS bylaws. *
