Event Description:The "How to Run a Global Issues Club" workshop is a student leadership workshop for students who are currently involved in (or are interested in becoming involved in) running a global issues club in their high school. This interactive workshop is full of practical information and is designed to help you become a strong leader in your school. Whether you are just starting out or have been running a club for years, there are activities designed to help you be a more effective and confident leader and there will be lots of time to answer any questions that you may have. The workshop is open to all students in grades 8-12 regardless of your level of experience/involvement- you are all welcome to attend! There will be a "think tank" activity at the end of the day for all students to brainstorm project/event ideas and begin to take concrete steps towards leadership activities and goals.
Event Goals:For people starting a club:-To learn the steps necessary to successfully set up a global issues club-To encourage networking with other participants -To develop a few ideas on projects to start off the yearFor people who are part of an existing club:-To review club starting procedures to ensure proper set up-To share ideas with each other and get new ideas and strategies for the year-To learn new tips and tricks on club operation and leadership-To discuss problem solving within clubs-To alleviate frustrations associated with global issues clubs and to turn frustrations into constructive and sustainable solutions-To set concrete actions and goals for the club
