Collective Impact for Inclusive Youth Employment Mentorship - Expression of Interest Form
Collective Impact for Inclusive Youth Employment (CIIYE) is a collaboration between the Centre for Employment Innovation, the Government of Nova Scotia (Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration), and other community and industry partners. The purpose of Collective Impact for Inclusive Youth Employment is to increase the labour force participation of under-represented groups (aged 18-34) including Indigenous, African Nova Scotians, racially visible individuals, Nova Scotians on Employment Support and Income Assistance (ESIA), and persons with a disability, through the development and delivery of a workplace attachment program. Part of this initiative includes resources that help young people in their career development, and one resource that has been identified through research and through conversation with young people, is the value of mentorship.
CIIYE defines mentorship as a self-development tool to support CIIYE youth participants throughout the program and beyond. Mentorship that encompasses both professional and personal development will take place in a way that allows mentorship with internal colleagues or external community members to form through seemingly organic networking and relationship building. The ‘Youth Centered Mentorship Approach Y-CMA (Youth Centered Mentorship Approach) helps co-create a space that fosters opportunities for those desiring to mentor and those desiring to have a mentor while providing additional support for those in either role.
This is a youth focused mentorship and we are looking for individuals across Nova Scotia who are willing to follow a youth-led approach. Who also value community, accountability, self-efficacy, honesty and have a willingness to continue learning. This form is to express interest in becoming a mentor and learn more about the approach the Centre of Employment Innovation is taking. Once the form is completed we will take time to review and connect with you about next steps.
