Program Description: Teen Programming at PPT provides sexual health information to GTA teens through the operation of Teen Health Source, a peer-based phone/text/email/chat service. Teen Health Source also runs a comprehensive sexual health website, www.teenhealthsource.com. Teen Programming utilizes a peer education model, where teen volunteers are provided with comprehensive training to equip them with the skills to respond to sexual and reproductive health information requests from their peers, and to develop new resources.
Eligibility: This volunteer opportunity is open to youth of all genders and backgrounds who are between the ages of 16 and 19.
Training: Training will start in November, taking place over multiple weeks for a total of 30 hours. Training will run one evening a week and some Saturdays. Applicants must be available to attend all sessions. Training is designed to increase your knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and to develop the necessary skills to provide information and respond to questions from teens that access this service. In addition to the training sessions, applicants are also required to do readings for each of the sessions.
