We are so excited to offer a Jewish Learning Fellowship this semester! The Jewish Learning Fellowship is an 8-week conversation-style learning opportunity that provides a space to discuss the modern applications of both ancient and contemporary Jewish values and ideas. No prior knowledge of Jewish text or tradition needed! JLF is an amazing opportunity to build community with other students on campus, discuss questions we come across everyday through a Jewish lens, and make great friends. Participants will receive a $180 stipend* upon completion of the cohort.
JLF makes no claims about the “right” way to be Jewish. Through the prism of Torah and other ancient texts, fellows address life’s biggest questions, drawing on the life experiences and intuition of students.
Across over 150 Hillels in North America, 5,000 Jewish college students participate in JLF each year. The program has become the largest Jewish educational provider on North American college campuses, and the only pluralistic one of its kind. 95% of JLF participants agreed that the program helped them feel like part of a Jewish community on campus. 96% of JLF participants said that the program helped Jewish ideas and tradition feel more relevant to their own lives.
JLF: Sex, Love, and Relationships: We will use ancient and contemporary Jewish texts to examine Jewish perspectives on sex, love, and relationships. We’ll explore relationship culture, ask what role sex plays in our lives, and queer Jewish traditions through open discussion and personal reflection. Fellows are encouraged to come ready to explore these topics in their own lives and relationships. Mondays from 5:30pm-7:00pm at Hillel (439 College Street) beginning Monday, February 9th. Facilitated by Lexi Sussan and Ori Pinn.
The deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 3rd.
Please email Sophie, Director of Student Engagement, at sophie@uvmhillel.org with any questions.
*Only first time JLF applicants are eligible for the stipend.
