Welcome to Journalism in Action!
Thank you for your interest in PBS News Hour Classroom's Journalism in Action: Civic Engagement and Primary Sources Through Key Moments in History website.

Choose any of the following ways to be part of this uplifting, thoughtful group of educators:

1. Sign up for a short, occasional emails focused on connecting a past and current news event (good for a 5-minute bell ringer activity).
2. Test out a lesson on Journalism in Action and provide feedback.
3. Sign up to be a Journalism in Action advisory board member.
4. Have a question or comment, we'd love to know!

Journalism in Action (a.k.a. JIA) is made up of fun interactive lessons primarily for grades 6-12, which allow students to examine the role of journalism in U.S. history including examples of civic engagement by the public all while honing key media literacy skills.

The site was written by educators, as is most of the stuff you'll see on News Hour Classroom, and was supported by a Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources grant.
