* Event details
ORConf (https://orconf.org) is an open source digital design and embedded systems conference, covering areas of electronics from the transistor level up to Linux user space and beyond.
The event is free to attend and in 2017 it will be held over 3 days consisting mainly of talks, and will also feature forums, a poster session, hardware demos and plenty of networking time.
Expect presentations and discussion on free and open source IP projects, implementations on FPGA and in silicon, verification, EDA tools, licensing and embedded software, to name a few.
Begun as the annual OpenRISC developers and users conference, it has become a broad open source digital design-oriented event and is arranged by the Free and Open Source Silicon Foundation: https://fossi-foundation.org
We would like to extend an invitation to anyone with an interest in the field to participate by presenting or just joining us for the event.
As is tradition at ORConf there will be a conference dinner on Saturday evening which all attendees and any partners who are present are welcome to join. We encourage attendance at this dinner. Please indicate in the section below whether you'll join us for that evening.
** Saturday evening dinner
We've already arranged a venue and catering for the traditional Saturday evening conference dinner. The details are on the the site: https://orconf.org/#satdinnervenue. In short it'll be at the Birchcliffe Centre, a short walk from the conference venue.
At this stage we're aiming to find a sponsor for the meal (contact us at email@example.com if you'd like to help out and we'll make sure you get attention) so that it will be free to attend. There will be a cash bar on hand for drinks.
Please do indicate via the check-box below whether you'd like to join us for the dinner - the idea is it's a venue large enough for the whole conference to attend and will likely be the only night this happens.
As for dietary preferences, we will contact you closer to the time to confirm those.
** What's the best place to get all of the information about the event, including announcements, speaking schedule, and information during the event?
** What's the best way to get to Hebden Bridge and where should I stay?
Both details on getting to Hebden Bridge and where to stay (in both Hebden Bridge and Halifax) can be found on the conference site; https://orconf.org/#gettingthere
** How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions before or during the event.
** Can I update my registration information?
Google will email you a confirmation which should have a link to allow you to update your response.
** I need a visa to come to the UK for the event, who can help me with that?
Please email us at and we'll help you out; email@example.com
** I want to submit a talk, where do I do that?
Talk submissions are made through a separate Google form: https://goo.gl/forms/fwALSQvbyUfE83Fh1
** Will the event sell out/fill up? If so will you have a waiting list?
It's possible this year. However thankfully we've never had to turn people away. Unless we announce Radiohead are going to drop by for a headline slot, it's likely we'll be able to accommodate everyone who registers. Please do register if you plan to attend, as we need this for catering numbers.
Again, all information about the event will be available at https://orconf.org as the event draws near.
Thanks very much for registering, looking forward to seeing you all in Hebden Bridge!
