WE THE STUDENTS MISSION

We are a nonpartisan national coalition of politically engaged students dedicated to upholding the principles of the United States Constitution. Guided by the freedoms enshrined in the First Amendment, we use peaceful protest, civic education, and lobbying to advocate for the rights, futures, and voices of young Americans. Free from the support of any political party, we are united in our fight against unconstitutional policy, law, and action. We, the students, will fight for the country we will inherit.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE

As our flagship city, WTS NYC includes over 30 schools and 500 students. We organize one walkout for democracy and against fear each school year, host dozens of community building events, participate in No Kings protests by planning and hosting youth rallies, and facilitate civic education/learning at our school clubs.

WHAT WE DO

United by our cause, cities across the country will open We The Students chapters, where members will learn about what it takes to do their part in creating a society with a civically engaged youth. These city chapters will emerge in the form of school clubs, where students will be taught about their power and how to responsibly exert it. From there, these school chapters will periodically unite to host city, state, or nationwide events in support of a specific cause. Many areas will likely be unable to organize the necessary numbers to mobilize properly; these areas will form smaller, more tightly knit groups, which will lobby (conduct research, organize with representatives, and deliver letters) to further We The Students' cause.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
  • Become a City Leader! We need 1-3 City Leaders per city in the US, and we currently need leaders in every city besides New York City. This is a high-commitment role in which you would create a citywide leadership team, and you and your team would reach out to schools and students across the whole city to amass as big of a community as possible. You and your team would establish civic education clubs in these schools, organize protests/walkouts on our national days of action, host fundraisers, and other events that promote civic engagement and advocate for democracy.

  • Join a City Leadership Team! If you have a specific skill and would rather contribute in one or specific ways rather that being the City Lead, you can also join a city leadership team. You could run a social media account, plan events, lead civic education research, etc, for your state. Please select "other" and specify what you would like to contribute to a city leadership team.

  • Become a School Captain! If you would not like to lead outreach beyond your school and would rather focus on leading protest/civic education efforts within your school community, then you could be a School Captain!

  • Not sure yet! That's okay! Please select "other" and describe what you might be considering, concerns, etc; you can still come to infosessions to learn more.
What role are you interested in? You MUST read the above description before choosing. *
How much time will you be able to commit to We the Students? Please be as detailed as possible, including which months of the year will be busier and which days of the week you would be doing work for We the Students. *
Which months/parts of the year do you think events in your area would have the highest turnout and why? *
FOR CITY LEADS ONLY (We highly recommend that there are 2-3 City Leads per city and that they attend different schools. If you have people in mind to lead with you, please reach out to them, have them fill this form out, and then list their names here. If you do not have someone in mind and others from your city apply, you may end up working with them.)
Where did you hear about us? *
Any questions, concerns, notes, or song recs for our We the Students playlist? *
Thank you! Feel free to contact maxannewts@gmail.com with any questions, concerns, or ideas about any part of this. We are still determining how much action and how many events will be planned in the first half of the coming school year, but we will most definetly be running infosessions, City Leadership trainings, facilitating civic education clubs nationwide, and beginning to mobilize for a national protest/walkout.
