In our double-period Education and Training class, eleventh and twelfth-grade students study the theory of the development of preschool children and assist in elementary classrooms in the district during the first semester. The high school students then apply their knowledge by planning, organizing, and running a laboratory preschool program for preschool-age children within our classroom, supervised by a P-12 certified teacher in the second semester. 

Our Lil’ Raiders program begins approximately on the second Tuesday in January through the first week in June (the exact end date will be determined by the school calendar and communicated to all families with ample notice). The preschool will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on all regular bell schedule days at the high school. Any deviation to the bell schedule due to testing, a delayed opening, or early dismissal will result in no preschool. 

Program Requirements:

• Children must be residents of Hillsborough Township or children of Hillsborough BOE employees.

• Children must be 3 years of age by October 1.

• Children must be fully potty trained (no pull-ups) and can help self in toileting. and dressing self.

• The non-refundable enrollment fee is $300 (cash or check only) and is due at the Orientation / Meet 'N’ Greet. This includes programmatic offerings and Lil’ Raiders t-shirts.

• No transportation is available. Families are required to secure their own transportation.

• Parents/Guardians are requested to provide a non-perishable, portable, healthy snack for the 20-minute break time. Students should bring a vessel of water for hydration breaks.

• Because we are a course and this is a learning ground for the high school students, we need the children “Ready for School.” The preschool-age child should be socialized with other children before joining and ‘ready to say goodbye’ at the door; able to use words when greeted at the door, asked a question or to express self; follow rules; and participate in the preschool lesson rotations for the three hours of this program.

• YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONFIRMED UNTIL SEPTEMBER WHEN THE HIGH SCHOOL RESUMES.
