Seats are limited, and are being awarded on a first come, first served basis for all qualifying applicants.

The d|Bootcamp will expect participants to work in multidisciplinary teams consisting of journalists / civic activists / technologists / designers to learn new skills for using open data to tell evidence-based stories, run civic engagement campaigns, or even build data-driven public services.

Participants are the d|Bootcamp will learn how to access and use the data for their own projects, and will meet likeminded people from the media, civil society, development agency, and government spaces who are interested in cross-sector collaboration.

The d|Bootcamp is being underwritten by the Ford Foundation and the World Bank, through a partnership between the African Media Initiative and Code for Africa, with support from the New Vision, Hacks/Hackers Kampala, and the African Network of Centers for Investigative Reporting (ANCIR).

    To become a data liberator, data wrangler, or data journalist you need certain basic skills. This section is designed to tell us what skills you already have, and where we should focus the training during the bootcamp. The more accurate you are about your skills, the more accurately we'll be able to tailor the course for you.
