Dear friends of Czech and Slovak culture in Ottawa,
This weekend, our Ottawa team will join volunteers from the Czech and Slovak Association of Canada branches from Vancouver to Montreal to discuss how better to serve Canadians with Czech and/or Slovak heritage, as well as anyone with an interest in our language, culture and traditions.
Locally in the past year, our Ottawa Czech School and our virtual conversational classes have grown to more than 70 students. In addition to the now annual Mikuláš and Easter celebrations and Sokolsky Run, we have held Book Club meetings and cooking classes; our students have filmed oral histories for the Memory of Nations project and received awards for entries in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice; and we have supported efforts in the Czech Republic to enable expats in Canada to vote by post, instead of only at the Embassy in Ottawa or at Toronto Consulate; to mention just a few.
