Ohio River Crossing I-69
This survey is designed to seek citizen involvement in the design and development of the Interstate 69 bridge across the Ohio River and the further ramifications of the U.S. Highway 41 bridges. Currently, the U.S. Highway 41 bridges are the only link between Evansville Indiana and Henderson Kentucky - on opposite sides of the Ohio River.

U.S. Highway 41 Bridges
While the Ohio River Crossing Project (ORX69) is focused on building the Interstate bridge, project managers have discussed the cost of continued maintenance of the older U.S. Highway 41 bridges. The northbound bridge opened in 1932, and the southbound bridge opened in 1965. The older the bridges get, the more maintenance costs will increase. ORX69 project managers have proposed several configurations of the new crossing, including demolishing the oldest of the two bridges or demolishing both bridges leaving only the Interstate highway as the sole crossing in the region.
Have you ever used alternative transportation (non-motorized transportation, hiking, biking, skateboard, etc.) to cross the Ohio River between Evansville and Henderson utilizing the U.S. Highway 41 bridges?

Interstate 69 Bridge
The current plans for the project have the I-69 bridge further east (upriver) of the U.S. Highway 41 bridges. This would be slightly out of the way for a bike and hike trail, but still be a viable option for non-motorized transit across the river for those who would like to utilize alternative transportation. If hike and bike accommodations are added to the I-69 bridge, it would be the only hike and bike accommodations west of Louisville in Indiana.
Should the Interstate 69 bridge be the only means of crossing the Ohio River in the Evansville/Henderson area?
Yes, we need a high speed highway that provides at least 3 lanes in each direction, wide shoulders to pull off on, using modern technology to reduce maintenance costs
No, locals still need a means of crossing the river without paying a toll
I don't know
I have no opinion
Clear selection
Should the Interstate 69 bridge include bike and hike accommodations?
Yes, we need a way to cross the river without getting in our car and driving
No, it is too far out of the way to be effective - hike and bike accommodations should be added to the U.S. Highway 41 bridges
No, the increased cost does not justify the limited use that would be provided
I have no opinion
