Keep Killer Robots Fiction Video Contest Application

What is it?

Mines Action Canada (MAC) invites youth campaigners and student film makers from around the world to participate in a competition to submit short multimedia presentations about autonomous weapons systems. The videos should be on the theme “KEEP KILLER ROBOTS FICTION”.

What do I win?

The winner or winning team will receive a Go-Pro HERO 4 silver camera and a 3-way mount.

Who can participate?

Submissions will be accepted from any contestant between the ages of 18 and 30 who is currently enrolled in post-secondary education.

What are the rules?

Submissions must be original, in English or with English subtitles, and less than two minutes. They could be animated or live films, podcasts, or slide shows. All entries need to contain some original material. Applicants are free to incorporate someone else’s materials as long as they are copyright free and properly credited with written permission from the owner. Any entries that contain images, music, film or excerpts that do not comply with this rule will be disqualified.

All video submissions must be respectful and courteous. You are fully responsible for everything that you submit, and all videos are intended for the general public. Therefore, to protect your own privacy and the privacy of others, do not include personal information such as phone numbers, social insurance numbers, banking information, resumes or email addresses in the videos. Contest organizers will not accept videos that are offensive to an individual or an organization, rude in tone, or abusive. Contest organizers reserve the right to refuse, edit or remove any of the following:
• racist, hateful, sexist, homophobic, slanderous, insulting, or life-threatening content;
• serious, unproven, unsupported, or inaccurate accusations against individuals or organizations;
• abusive, aggressive, coarse, explicit, vulgar, violent, obscene, or pornographic content;
• content that encourages or suggests illegal activity;
• announcements, solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any organizations, political parties and agencies;
• attempts to defame or defraud any individual, group or agency;
• unintelligible or irrelevant content

What will MAC do with my submission?

Submissions will become property of MAC. Top ranked submissions will be featured in a MAC exhibit at Campaign to Stop Killer Robots events and in other MAC promotional materials such as our website or the www.stopkillerrobots.ca site, YouTube channel, etc. The creator of any submission will always be properly credited and their name will be prominently displayed any time MAC uses the material.

How will I know who won?

Winners will be announced via Twitter (https://twitter.com/MinesActionCan) and MAC’s Facebook Fan page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mines-Action-Canada/45723944789) in late March 2015 – so make sure you sign up to one or both of these groups when you send in your submission!
