The New York City Center is renewing its Producing Observership Program, an exclusive, free opportunity for CUNY students to attend workshops, rehearsals, and seminars, and observe the musical theatre production process at one of New York’s largest and most prestigious cultural institutions.
The two-part partnership aims to: (1) provide dedicated seminars with City Center staff; (2) offer access to both Encores! and dance production processes.
Students accepted into the program will attend 3 free master classes at City Center and a tech rehearsal observation of either an upcoming Encores! musical or dance program. Below are the confirmed events:

You can sign up for all three masterclasses but we encourage you to attend at least two. Opportunities to observe a tech rehearsal will be determined soon.

- 90-minute seminar with City Center’s Dance Programming staff focusing on City Center’s programming model and the team’s role & responsibilities during each process;
- A special invite to City Center’s Producing Panel. The event will aim to demystify the role of a producer and the entryways into the work
Production Observerships
Observe either a dance or musical theater production process.
