Best Friends in Utah Pet Food Pantry Guidelines and Application for Assistance
The Pet Food Pantry is a service of Best Friends Animal Society and is made possible through the generous contributions of local community members and businesses. For Utah residents who are unable to feed their pets, Best Friends-Utah will assist by providing the donations we receive. This service is offered to households in need of short term help with dog or cat food and that intend to keep their pets and not relinquish them and for those participating in trap neuter return (TNR) for outdoor community cats.
Please check each of the following indicating you have read and understand each guideline:
Best Friends offers temporary/emergency pet food assistance; this service is not intended to supply food permanently or on a regular basis.
Requests may be limited to four times a year, as resources are available. This is especially for cat food as we often run low.
Applicant’s animals must be spayed/neutered, actively participating in TNR (for community cats) or must agree to spay or neuter their animals. Best Friends can assist through their spay neuter services.
The Food Pantry is available to low income pet owners and community cat caregivers in times of hardship and not meant to enable further adoptions.
If you are a recipient of the pet food pantry, it is not recommended to adopt additional animals.
The food pantry is not available if you are intentionally breeding animals.
Best Friends reserves the right to deny food to anyone under any circumstances or to make exceptions based on individual need.
Food provided through this service may not be resold.
Requests for specific food types will be considered (i.e. senior, large breed, grain free), however, Best Friends will only be able to provide what is available from donated supplies.
Pet food provided may be mixed from lower and higher quality dry food and re-bagged. Some food may be expired within the last year.
Food orders will be available for pick up on Tuesday 4pm-7pm Thursday 4pm-7pm, and Saturday 11am-3pm each week. You will be notified when your order is available for pick up.
Food orders are to be picked up within 1 week of being notified from Best Friends located at 2005 S 1100 E, SLC, 84106. Please pull around back by the garages.
Food delivery is not a service Best Friends provides.
This request is for a one time order. If there is a need for assistance in the future; please expect to reapply.
