In 1988, the late Lorie L. Graham Award was established in honor of the late Mrs. Graham; the first winner of the NC NAACP Mother of the Year title in 1955. The award honors a woman whose leadership in her community is above and beyond the call of duty to support and carry out the objectives of the NAACP.
NOMINATION PROCESS To nominate a deserving candidate for the Lorie L. Graham Award, submit a one-page typed nomination letter that includes information about the nominee’s NAACP and community accomplishments. The nomination letter should clearly outline the nominee’s achievements. Attach this sheet in front of the one-page typed nomination letter. Nominee must be a) a well-respected member of the NAACP and b) an exceptional leader in her community.
SELECTION PROCESS The Selection committee will select one nominee or contestant and she will be awarded the Lori L. Graham Award at the 2023 NC NAACP WIN Mother of the Year/Woman of the Year Coronation.
