AJ Design - Formatting Services form after payment in Ko-Fi

Hi, thank you for ordering through Ko-fi.

For your book to be formatted, I will need to have the fully finished and edited manuscript. I will not accept unfinished works, only fully signed off manuscripts. Don't worry about the odd typo, as we all have them. These I can fix for you, if you suddenly spot them, just tell me where they are. I will at the start do a full spell check (if you are not from the UK then please state as I will be checking for UK spellings), I will not be checking grammar etc.

Please send:

  • Work in Google or Word format
  • Images for chapter headers / sections in JPG or PNG
  • Book sizes if not standard 6" by 9" size
  • Finished book versions will be in Epub, KPF(Kindle file type) and PDF

Formatting work will approximately take about 8 days, with an additional 5 to 6 days per book version and approximately 4 days grace per book version for editing and fixing issues. For example for one type of eBook and paperback full formatting time from submission to ready for publication will be, approximately 18 days*.

I will send you a draft after formatting for you to check the document to make sure you are happy with it. Any tweaks will be made within the 4 day grace period after you have checked the documents.

If there are issues uploading to Amazon let me know and I'll try and help.

If you need any changes made, let me know ASAP and I will fix them for you. If you wish to make changes to the manuscript, it will mean starting again on the formatting work, unless you can indicate the changes in the document for me to alter in the masters. In both cases this will be additional time of 3 to 6 days, if a full reformat there will be an an additional charge via invoice of £20.

Chapter header and front matter design work at an additional cost, will add more time to the ordered work. Depending on the design needed, this could take up to an additional 2 to 3 days. If you have designs in mind, please let me know and supply desired images.

I do not do free hand artwork, I only use stock or supplied images. If you wish for more individual artwork, then I suggest asking an artist and ask them to send the image file to me to add to your book.

As stated on your Ko-Fi order there is a non-refundable deposit of £15 if you cancel after work has commenced. Additional payments are through Stripe a link will be provided with your invoice if additional charges are required.

* Please note time scales are approximate. I have a full time job, so formatting work is in my free time. I can usually do a couple of hours a night, more on the weekends, so time scales can be shorter. To ensure if there are any delays I like to have a buffer so if anything unforeseen arises your work will be with you on time. I can under exceptional circumstances do a quicker turn around if needed, but please let me know in advance if there is a short turn around time. If possible book early and I can ensure my time is allotted to you.

When formatting your eBook, I will make it Reflowable (Reflowable format allows readers to adjust the size of eBook fonts, margins, and various properties on Kindle.) If you want your eBook to have graphics within it, please be aware that reflowable may not always work, so I usually do a fixed ePub format. This will also increase file size and delivery costs through Amazon may apply.

If you want front matter graphics / chapter headers added and designed by me, at an additional cost on your Ko-Fi order. I will need to know what font was used on the cover for your title, so I can replicate it for the front matter. Also a copy of the cover to get the design the same. Also sample images or concept for the chapter headers.
