Welcome Back To First Ascent Survey
We have heard from so many of you who are eager to get back to First Ascent, and we love and share your enthusiasm. The First Ascent founders and leadership team have been working tirelessly behind the scenes planning for how best to reopen and welcome you back to First Ascent, and we're excited to share that plan with the FA community shortly.
Our reopening plan focuses on three areas: (1) Enhanced Sanitation & Cleaning Procedures, (2) Scheduled Visitation & Monitoring, and (3) Space, Equipment, and Climbing Wall Usage Management.
As we finalize our plan, we're asking the FA community for your feedback on a few of the finer details. Please take 5 minutes and let us know your thoughts on the below questions.
Ultimately, our commitment to our community is simple: to serve you with sanitized hands and open hearts, to do everything in our power to protect and promote your health and wellness, to communicate with you clearly so you know what you can expect and what you can do to help, and to listen to you along the way. We can lead the way forward - together.
We look forward to receiving your feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back to First Ascent soon.
~Dan, Joe, Jon, & Dave | the First Ascent Founders

To manage capacity limits at FA gyms, members will use a reservation system to book a climbing session in advance before arriving at the gym. How long would you like our reservation blocks to be?
Note: we will open initially for members-only access to give our members priority while strict capacity limits are in place. Members will be required to leave at the end of their scheduled session to ensure capacity limits are followed.
Are you interested in 1-on-1 climbing sessions with a staff member for a small fee before the gyms are open for members-only access?
Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan allows for 1-on-1 training, while Phase 4 allows for open climbing and fitness equipment usage within capacity limits.
Are you comfortable signing a health declaration before each visit to the gym?
A health declaration helps us ensure the safety of those who visit by requiring each visitor to sign off on the following: I affirm that I am not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms (cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, loss of taste or smell), and to my knowledge, I have not been exposed to anyone with any of the above symptoms over the past two weeks.
Are you willing to climb while wearing a face covering?
First Ascent will provide face coverings for free at the front desk, and you can also bring your own.
Are you willing to use liquid chalk instead of dry, powder chalk when climbing?
Liquid chalk is an alcohol-based chalk that has disinfecting qualities similar to hand sanitizer while providing a similar climbing experience to powder chalk.
How interested are you in attending virtual yoga, fitness, and climbing training classes (ie First Ascent Anywhere classes) with us moving forward, even after we reopen?
Can we reach out to you for further feedback on your responses above?
