Drexel Kline Mock Trial Spring 2022 Tryout - Part 1
(1) First, please answer the questions below to help us better understand why you'd make a great addition to Drexel Kline's mock trial team.  These answers will not be shared with anyone outside of the group evaluating the applicants.

(2) You are the defense attorney who represents a bus company in a lawsuit brought by a bus passenger who was injured in a car accident on a highway.  An SUV crossed the median of the highway and hit the bus.  The windows immediately shattered.  The Plaintiff says the bus windows were defectively designed in that they shattered in the accident, which caused the injuries.  The Defense says the injuries were caused by another vehicle on the road that came across the median and hit the bus.  Please memorize and record yourself performing (ideally, while standing) the excerpt below:

The design was safe.  But the driving wasn’t.

It’s a Thursday afternoon.  A man is sitting in the driver’s seat of a Chevy Suburban on Interstate 20.  He grips the steering wheel, leans forward, and squints out the windshield.  Because even though the calendar says it’s the Fourth of July, today, the weather says something different.  The sky is gray and filled with clouds.  It’s pouring.  The rain is pounding the windshield.  The man can barely see the cars up ahead.  He can barely see anything.  He presses down on the gas.  The tires start to spin, the car begins to slide, he jerks the wheel and tries to swerve back onto the road, but he loses control.  The car shoots across the median and hits a bus.  Hard.  The hood of the car crumples, the bus rolls over, the bus windows, the car windows, all of them shatter.  Within seconds, Interstate 20 is littered with warped metal and shards of glass.

(3)  Submit the video by uploading it via YouTube and pasting the link into the appropriate space on this form.  PLEASE UPLOAD THE VIDEO AS UNLISTED SO THAT NO ONE CAN SEE IT BUT FOR US.  We won't share the video with anyone outside of the group evaluating the applicants.  You may delete the video once the tryout process is over, if you wish.

(4) Email your resume to pmp45@drexel.edu.

A select group of applicants will receive a “call back.”  Applicants will be notified if they have earned a call back on or before April 5, 2022.  Call backs will take place at the law school on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Note that applicants who accept a role as a member of our mock trial team must register for Introduction to Trial Advocacy and Evidence (of course, if the applicant has already taken one or both of these courses, the applicant need not take them again!).

A completed form, along with all materials referenced above, must be received by March 28, 2022.

Please contact Trial Competition Director Phil Pasquarello with any questions at pmp45@drexel.edu
