Modern Makers Shop
Vendor expectations
Vendors moving into the Modern Makers Shop for 2024 are in for a completely different experience than they would have in other stores. Firstly I want to recognize that it doesn't matter if you've been in a retail store with a similar module. This isn't a franchise business, no two store owners are the same. No two store owners have the same onboarding process. Comparing us to others will get you as far as us comparing you to similar niche businesses. Please don't.

We respect other similar businesses and their modules, we don't need to compare.

We can't promise endless sales. We can't promise success. We can promise community and growth.
We're your small business Hype team and our Shop community reflects that!
The expectation to be in store is that you take yourself and your business seriously.
After years of being in this industry we've seen it all. What we don't have time for are fair weather vendors who only come around for financial gains. Who don't put in the work for themselves or for us but expect the world back.
This is a large part in why we have changed the structure of our Module and will continue to do so.
Please note we very much hold space for mental health and we understand this industry ebbs and flows for makers. Just like you, we are a small business as well. There are costs and goals for this business that we can not manage without working with businesses who understand our values and can see value in their time with us.

To be in store there is A LOT of work involved.
You need to have social media as this is the largest sales channel for our Shop. You need to understand basic computer skills as you're responsible for uploading your products into our system. In 2024, we have shifted the responsibility of tenancy to the vendors. We are no longer invoicing - Vendors will be responsible for their vendor fees being paid on time through a payment link. For those who think that is a lot of work, imagine chasing up 70+ businesses every month to pay their invoices while running a store, staff, events and everything else.
It is a lot of work. Having a business IS a lot of work and I'm excited to work with individuals who are enthusiastic about their brand.

We have a flexible module at the Modern Makers Shop because we understand this industry ebbs and flows.
Our #1 rule for vendor terms is you agree to give us 30 days notice for changes in tenancy.

Vendor fees/rentals need to be paid for 30 days in advance. This would mean typically you are paying for 2 months of fees upon starting your term. (Unless you are signing up months ahead of time)

Do you understand and agree to giving us 30 days notice?
Please understand, payouts are withheld if your tenancy is not up to date.

Right now we offer One Shelf and Two shelf options. We have condensed our shop space to avoid overlap in niche categories and offer what our demographic is looking for.
Most products do not need a large display space if you are clever with how you merchandize

What space suits you best?
*
If accepted into the shop community you will be initially invoiced for your preferred display option.
Once your vendor fee is paid you'll be sent log in information!
After your first invoice, you'll be responsible for following through with payment through our payment link.

Do you agree and understand this?
