Sacramento Health Technology Survey

This survey will ask you your level of interest in, and your ideas for, three health and social services related products:

- a visualization of asthma rates throughout the state,
- a way to communicate your ideas about open data to the state, and
- an index of all social services data in the area.

We are moving forward on all three fronts, and we want to know 1) who is most interested in each product, and 2) your ideas for how each product can be made most useful. Thank you for your time, and for your dedication to improving the lives of all Sacramentans!

    Asthma Visualization

The first product is a website that will allow you to visualize data on emergency room visits for asthma by county and by ZIP code. This is one of the indicators the state will use to measure the health of Californians under the Let's Get Healthy California initiative (http://www.chhs.ca.gov/pages/LGHCTF.aspx), and this website may serve as a prototype for a larger site measuring California's progress toward its health goals. The capabilities of the site may include mapping the data, charting the data, comparing the state's progress against a target, allowing you to search for and see more detailed information for a desired county or ZIP code, downloading the raw data, and including video or other media content.

    Demand-Driven Open Data

The second product is a website that will allow you to interact with the California Health and Human Services Agency's open data portal (http://chhs.data.ca.gov/). Expected capabilities of the site include the ability to request new features or datasets, see what others are requesting, vote to increase or decrease the priority of requests, and have a conversation with other requesters and with state staff about each request. This website will help the state prioritize new datasets and features for its open data portal that are most useful to the site's users.

    Social Services Resource Directory

The final product is a directory of all social services in the area, including a simple means for providers to upload their information to the directory, and a simple means for users to access information in the directory. The directory would include information such as type of service, location of service, hours, capacity, clients served, contact information, etc. Information in the directory would be freely available to allow users to develop their own processes and apps around the data.

    Who are you?

We'd love to follow up with those of you who are most interested in each of the three products described above, so we can design them to be as useful as possible for the people that are going to use them. If you'd be willing to talk to us further, please enter your name and contact info. Thank you!
