Please be specific
Our research suggests that local governments continue to struggle to engage and meet many of the needs of the Latino community. The recent pandemic, natural disasters (fire, floods, etc), and other crises continue to expose many of the equity gaps and challenges that exist in local government.

What specifically will the candidate do to make sure local government is more intentional with meeting the needs of the Latino community?
*
Our public opinion polling suggests that current "affordable housing" programs are not accessible or equitable to Latinos. For example, very few housekeepers, landscapers, and construction and restaurant workers are represented in the individuals who are using the current programs.

What specific policy proposals does the candidate support to ensure that Latinos have equitable access to affordable housing programs at a level proportionate to our population size?
*
Colorado has been one of many states to receive newcomers (migrants) in recent years, creating an unprecedented homelessness crisis. Many rural governments, especially in the central mountain region, have been slow to respond or have simply refused to respond at all.
Does the candidate agree that local governments have a legal, ethical or moral responsibility to act and provide lifesaving support like shelter, access to food and water, and meet other basic needs when we find a large group of unhoused individuals exposed to the elements in our communities?
*
Colorado’s central mountain region is home to many long-term immigrants who have been contributing to the cultural and economic fabric of our mountain resort communities for decades.
Does the candidate believe that local governments have a legal, ethical or moral responsibility to develop local policies that are inclusive and supportive of the long-term undocumented immigrants living in our communities?
*
In 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the protections afforded by Roe v. Wade via its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.

Does the candidate believe that a person should have bodily autonomy and self-determination in deciding whether or not to have children, in addition to the right to parent their children in safe, healthy, and sustainable communities?
*
Some communities in Colorado -- including communities of color -- are disproportionately impacted by environmental health risks such as pollution and unsafe drinking water. As a result, they may experience higher levels of environmental health harm.

Does the candidate believe that local governments have a legal, ethical or moral responsibility to address the disparate, negative effects of environmental injustices on Latinos and other disproportionately impacted communities?
