Lights Out Philly Pledge for Municipal/Government Buildings
Bird Safe Philly has launched the Lights Out Philly Program to make Philadelphia and surrounding counties safer for migratory and resident birds.

Building owners, tenants, and residents are asked to minimize unnecessary lights and make some lighting changes during the peak spring and fall migration periods of April 1 - May 31 and August 15 - November 15 and between the hours of midnight and 6:00 AM. Specific actions include the following:

 Turn off exterior decorative lighting
 Extinguish spot and flood-lights
 Substitute strobe lighting where possible
 Reduce lobby and atrium lighting where possible
 Turn off interior lighting, especially on upper floors
 Substitute task and area lighting for workers staying late
 Down-shield exterior lighting or limit to ground level
