Privacy Act Statement
Authority:  We are collecting this information under the authority of the Science and Engineering Equal Opportunity Act of 1980 (Public Law 96-516: 42 USC 1885a and b).

Purpose:   Your name and email address will be used by USGS NSF-ICF staff to contact you to schedule the requested tour. The tour group information, and demographic makeup will be used by the National Science Foundation to determine if the outreach activities of the NSF Ice Core Facility (ICF) are effective in educating a diverse cross-section of the public.  

Routine Uses:  The demographic information collected will be used to measure the effectiveness of the NSF-ICF outreach activities. The University of New Hampshire and The National Science Foundation will have access to the results of the anonymized demographic information of the survey.   Additional information on authorized routine uses may be found in the published system of records notice,  GS-18, Computer Registration System (63 FR 29910), which may be viewed at https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-1998-11-09/pdf/98-29910.pdf#page=1.   A new routine use was added to this system of records notices on May 19, 2009, which may be viewed at https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2009-05-19/pdf/E9-11613.pdf#page=1

Disclosure:  If the individual doesn’t furnish the requested information, there will be no adverse impacts to the individual. However, if the NSF-ICF is unable to consistently demonstrate that it is reaching diverse audiences, we may be required to suspend tours. 

Paperwork Reduction Act Statement
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 USC 3501 et. Seq.) requires us to inform you that this information is being collected to determine if the outreach activities of the NSF Ice Core Facility are reaching a diverse cross-section of the public, and are effective in educating this population. Response to this request is voluntary. Public reporting for this form is estimated to average 4 minutes per response, including the time for reviewing instructions and completing the form. A Federal agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a valid OMB Control Number.
