Project Pueblo's Victor Baca Scholarship Application

Victor Baca was a great friend to many of the leaders of Project Pueblo. He had a heart that was dedicated to serving others and routinely spent his time devoted to community service. Last year, he served Project Pueblo and our sister organization, Revolve, as a Team Leader during several of our events. The last event he served on for us was during our 1st Annual Beach Clean up. Also, he was planning to come on one of our Service Trips in 2009 to the Navajo Nation. Victor was an amazingly bright student and had completed his Master's Degree in Music from USC at a young age (22). He embodied what a true servant-leader should be and was one of the kindest and selfless people that any of his friends and family knew.

Tragically, in the summer of 2009 Victor was killed in a car accident as he was moving to start a new life in Loma Linda, CA after his graduation from USC. In his memory, we have setup the Victor Baca Scholarship for members of Project Pueblo who would like to have financial assistance in attending one of our service trips.

The $50-$100 scholarship will be applied directly to the cost of the Navajo Nation Service Trip, so recipients will still be responsible for the remainder of the trip cost which will be due prior to leaving for the trip. The $50-$100 award will be based on 1) Financial Need, 2) A 350-1000 word essay demonstrating why you would like to receive this scholarship (details below), and 3) a commitment to the Project Pueblo Leadership Team on your campus if they need the help.

Please keep in mind that your responses may be used for our website, flyers, presentations or other marketing materials since we will do our best to promote this scholarship to other members in the future. In submitting this form, you authorize us to use portions of your essay for these purposes. We will do our best to let you know what we're using prior to using your statements.

Recipients may be asked to do testimonials of their experience at upcoming Project Pueblo events (General Meetings, etc.) and there may be some other minor duties associated with the scholarship as well--but they will be related to promoting future Service Trips.

Please fill out the form below and submit it as soon as possible. The Director of your Project Pueblo chapter will notify you before the trip if you have received the scholarship. Please allow 7-14 days for the scholarships to be processed, as our Board needs to approve them. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to working with you on the Navajo Nation soon!
