Dear Parents and Guardians

Having studied a range of Modern languages so far at Claires Court, we now seek for your daughter to choose one Modern Foreign Language for Year 9, that being French, German or Spanish.

Please indicate your daughter’s language option below by 26 March 2020.

It may be that your daughter would like to take two languages in Year 9. Whilst we retain the option of girls studying two languages, it should be noted that we would only allow this option if the department is sure that there is a high probability of GCSE success in their second language and if numbers make it viable. Once we know which girls wish to continue in two languages, we can look at how best to timetable these options against other curricular components, and will provide you with further information. For example, Art, Drama and Music can be continued to be followed in after school clubs in Year 9, permitting space in the curriculum for a second MFL. We will review your daughter's choices in the light of the Summer examination outcomes in May, and feedback any suggestions we may have to parents at that stage.
