Scientific software engineer
Acellera is looking for an enthusiastic, talented and self-managed scientific software engineer to develop PlayMolecule (, a drug discovery platform that brings state-of-the-art research applications to industry such as large pharmas and biotech companies.

Your work will focus on maintaining and developing the platform, thus contributing to the company mission: accelerating the transition towards computerized drug discovery process. The development of the platform will be done in conjunction with scientists of different backgrounds such as biology, computational chemistry or mathematics, so the position should be particularly appealing to individuals with general scientific knowledge.

Founded in 2006, Acellera was one of the first companies worldwide to leverage the use of novel accelerator processor technology (GPU). We have collaborated with Novartis, Pfizer, UCB, Janssen and Biogen and our software is used by hundreds of users both in academia and pharma companies. Our headquarters are in London (UK) and the R&D centre is located within the informatic and innovation hub in Barcelona (Spain). Our software includes PlayMolecule, ACEMD, HTMD, KDEEP, etc. In particular, PlayMolecule is the first platform to offer molecular dynamics and machine learning applications for drug discovery with a specific focus on drug design.

Key responsibilities:
- Development of applications within the PlayMolecule API.
- Maintenance and improvement of critical front-end and server-side functionalities, including configuration and integration with high performance computing infrastructures.
- Software engineering of the platform, including version control of apps, documentation, release schedule and continuous integrationin testing environments.
- Deployment of the platform together with IT admins of customers.
- Scientific and IT customer support

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Server-side languages: Python, Go
- Client-side languages: Javascript, HTML, CSS
- Linux, git, software engineering, excellent programming skills
- English proficiency

Desired Skills and Experience:
- A PhD in a related field to the science area of Playmolecule applications
- Experience in general DevOps tasks and AngularJS
- HPC and system administration
