The University of Michigan requires that any volunteers working with children on campus pass a background check. Please read through all 4 steps to understand this process and do Step 1 immediately for each adult in your family who needs backstage access.

Step 1: All adults are required to complete this Background Check Google Form ASAP. This includes any and all parents/guardians who anticipate dropping dancers off backstage during show week, dancers over the age of 18, backstage volunteers and artistic staff. Without a clear background check you will not be able to access any backstage areas.

Step 2: UM has agreed to let us use their background check system, at no cost to RDC. It is important that we follow their protocol to the letter. After we have collected everyone’s Google Forms, they are submitted to UM together in one batch.

Step 3: You will receive an email directly from the company running the background checks (we will let you know when to expect that email). NOTE: YOU HAVE 72 HOURS TO RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL. If you miss the window, they will send only one follow up email. 

Step 4: After the background checks have cleared, we will provide you with a special wristband that will need to be worn through the week of the show.
