MamaBear Books DRC/ARC Reviewer Application Form

Thank you so much for your interest in reviewing for MamaBear Books!

We are a Texas-based boutique children’s press founded by former educator Ashley Wall, M.Ed., and her husband Jeff. Our mission is rooted in kindness, imagination, and accessibility in early childhood reading. We believe that a child who can imagine is a child who can change the world, and we are committed to publishing meaningful stories that spark empathy, creativity, and confidence in young readers.

As a small, family-run publishing house transitioning into traditional publishing, we deeply value authentic community relationships. Our Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and Digital Review Copy (DRC) reviewers will play an important role in helping our books reach the children, families, educators, and librarians who need them most.

This is a volunteer opportunity. There is no financial compensation. In exchange for an honest and kindhearted review, selected reviewers will receive either a digital review copy or, in some cases, a physical advance copy.

There is no minimum follower count required to apply. We select reviewers based on alignment with our mission, demonstrated engagement with children’s literature, and overall fit for each title.

Please note: Submitting this application does not guarantee selection. Due to limited copies, we are not able to accept every applicant.

If selected, you agree to:

  • Treat all materials as confidential. Digital files may not be shared, forwarded, copied, uploaded, or distributed in any format.

  • Not resell or redistribute physical advance copies.

  • Post your review within the agreed-upon timeframe.

  • Provide thoughtful, honest, and respectful feedback. Positive reviews are not required, but kindness and professionalism are expected.

Failure to meet confidentiality or timeline expectations may result in removal from future ARC opportunities.

Applicants must be 18 years or older.

We are especially excited to build long-term relationships with readers who genuinely love children’s picture books and early chapter books and who care deeply about nurturing imagination and literacy.
