Brooklyn Cemetery Restoration Sign Up
In preparation for the Month of the Family, volunteers will assist in the ongoing clean-up and beautification of the historic Brooklyn Cemetery. Volunteers will work in various sections to remove fallen limbs, trees, and debris from gravesites and bring it to the roadway. Others will feed debris into the chipper or assist with sunken graves and tree roots fill-in with gravel and mulch. Volunteers will use small hand tools to perform these tasks. There may be opportunities to plant bulbs at specific grave-sites and family plots.
~This project is family-friendly, ages 12+. There is a heavy-machinery option to sign-up for that is not family-friendly, but children are welcome for other tasks.
~Volunteers should bring a filled reusable water bottle and hand sanitizer.
~Volunteers should wear long pants and close-toed shoes. Please come dressed to get dirty.
~Please feel free to bring your own tools if you have them (gloves, shovels, and loppers).
~Tools, masks, latex gloves, and work gloves will be provided for those who need them.
~All volunteers will sign in at the site.
~The cemetery will supply some bottled water and prepackaged snacks.
~A signed parent or guardian waiver is required for anyone under 18 years old.
~If raining lightly, there will be a two-hour delayed start time. If there is heavy rain, the workday will be rescheduled.
~Volunteer parking is located at the Clarke Middle School parking lot.
