CRITICAL ZONES. IN SEARCH OF A COMMON GROUND
For a long time the reactions of Earth to our human actions remained unnoticed, and have now finally – not least due to recent international climate protests – moved into public consciousness. The exhibition project Critical Zones invites visitors to engage with the critical situation of the Earth in a novel and diverse way and to explore new modes of coexistence between all forms of life.

As part of the travelling exhibition, Toxics Link and Shared Ecologies are partnering with Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi, to curate a series of programs. Please see the list of programs below, and sign up.

Plastics Recycling Tour
Led by Toxics Link
10th and 17th February, 11 AM to 4 PM

This tour will take place on two days, and will be led by Toxics Link, an environmental NGO dedicated to bringing toxics-related information into the public domain, both relating to struggles and problems at the grassroots level as well as global information to the local levels. The tour will consist of site visits to e-waste separation and disposal centres in Seelampur, and view process of plastic waste molding at Inderlok. Lunch will be provided in transit.

It is indeed critical and important to recognize and acknowledge that the informal sector plays a vital role in managing electronic and plastic waste our experience in the country clearly suggest that informal waste collectors are part of a network that have far deeper access to waste and over time have aligned themselves to intermediary trading systems and storage infrastructures. While these informal players have existed and continue to struggle for survival in absence of any regulatory or financial support. This is very clearly visible in the city of Delhi, which is considered as the biggest waste trading and recycling hubs in the country for both plastics and e waste. This trip has been organised to familiarise all with the role of informal sector and its contribution to waste management efforts in the city.
