Please note below the skills needed to register for the Pool, and/or Waterfront Lifeguard Certification Course.
The following PREREQUISITE SKILLS are needed in order to complete the courses and must by completed on the first day of training:
1. Complete swim test
● Swim 150 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
● Tread water for two minutes using only your legs
● Swim 50 more yards.
● Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the
back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
2. Complete a timed "brick dive" event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
● Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles not allowed.
● Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
● Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water.
● Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
● If participant fails any of the above, we will reimburse course fee.
* Students must complete a mandatory 7 HOURS of online course work prior to the first training session***

** Students who do not complete online work prior to the first class WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE COURSE.
Course Dates and Times: ● Friday, May 30, 4 PM - 8 PM (Pool)
● Saturday, May 31, 8 AM - 5:30 PM (Pool)
● Sunday, June 1, 8 AM - 5:30 PM (Waterfront & Pool)
Fee for Pool Course (May 30-31, June 1 + online work) : $350Fee for Waterfront Course ONLY (June 1) : $100
● Both courses are required to be a lifeguard at Liberty Lake
● 50% of course fees will be reimbursed if lifeguard works at Liberty Lake for majority of summer season
