True Way Youth Empowerment Foundation
The Esther Q. Mixson Scholarship was created in honor of businesswoman and entrepreneur, Esther Q. Mixson. In addition to being a black woman in an industry that made her stand out as a minority, Esther was also a double amputee due to a life-threatening illness. Esther recovered and resumed her career as a real estate sales agent and property manager for Shel-Sone Realty, Inc.and as owner and founder of KIVERS General Contracting, Inc. Esther was a member in good standing of many prestigious organizations, she mentored and supported first-time home buyers, and she employed women in non-traditional work roles and young men that we're returning to society or being deterred from the penal system. Finally, Esther loved and supported the arts and athletics. These are two areas of passion because all of her grandchildren are gifted in one or more areas of visual or performing arts and she loved watching and discussing sports with her grandsons. In November 2004, Esther's earthly journey was completed by breast and lung cancer. True Way and the family of Esther Q. Mixson is honored to continue her legacy with scholarships that will empower others to hone their amazing!
