WHAT DO WE DO AT LCY CONVENTION?
At our annual LCY Convention, we meet Jesus together and celebrate the ministry we share! We will join in large and small groups to learn, grow, play, and build community together, and conduct the business of our synod's youth organization, SCLCY. This is a perfect opportunity for youth and adults to meet new people from around South Carolina, and see what it means that we're Church together in the ELCA!
We're excited that Joe Davis will be our keynote speaker this year! Find out more about Joe at his website:
WHAT WILL ADULTS DO?
*** There is an ADULT GROUP!!! ***
Adult Leaders are welcome all weekend as participants for our Adult Workshops. Please fill out the registration the same as your youth. We will have a session to talk about the ELCA Youth Gathering.
We will have three tracks at Convention:
+ LIVING FAITH +
This is the track most will be on. We'll have workshops to talk about living out our faith in a way that helps us learn how God's plan breaks the patterns of our lives and our world through the death and resurrection of Jesus! This will be a time of both activities and workshops, and the closer we get to having it all ready, the more excited we're all getting.
+ WORSHIP +
Up to 10 youth will have an opportunity to follow the WORSHIP track, headed up by our Chaplain Ally McDonough. This group will spend their small group time while others are on the LIVING FAITH track preparing Friday and Saturday devotions and Sunday worship. The idea is for us to use all our senses and creativity to create worship experiences that will be holy and fun.
+ DRAMA +
Up to 15 youth will have an opportunity to follow the DRAMA track, headed up by Lavone Griffin and Clint Eastham! This group will put together a 10-15 minute dramatic presentation for worship on Sunday morning that focuses on this year's theme of GRACE Changes Everything, and transitions into revealing the new theme for next year, which is a secret! Also, this group will conceive of and assemble an art piece to serve as a backdrop or icon for worship on Sunday morning. Throughout the weekend, we'll all be watching this piece of art take shape!
We're so excited to see how God is using us this year!
The cost per registrant is $150 before May 8, $175 after.
Because many congregations supplement this cost, we prefer that payment for the retreat be arranged through the congregation. If you're registering individually, please contact
**Checks can be made payable to SCLCY, Convention in the memo.**
Payments should be mailed to:
1003 Richland St.
Columbia, SC 29201
Unless there are extenuating circumstances, completion of this registration grants photo release rights for social media, annual yearbook, slideshows, and other forms of printed and digital media. If these circumstances exist, please contact
***Please be certain to fill out the LCY Vital Information & Emergency Medical form! You only need to fill this out once per school year unless information changes, but you cannot attend without this being completed.***
We can't wait to see you there!
Type of Registration
This identifies youth or adult, delegate or participant. Each congregation is allowed ONLY 2 Voting Delegates, rising 9-12 grades, one male and one female if possible. If you're an adult registrant, please know that we expect you to participate in the age appropriate activities, and that you're "on call" for supervision as needed. Please check with your youth director before registering as a Voting Member so that we don't have more than two from each congregation.
Voting Member (2 per Congregation)
Adult Participant, but I'm interested in staffing LCY events!
Adult Participant, and I think I was a youth once.
Who am I, and what am I doing here? (Definitely an adult at this point)
Home Congregation (Name & City)
Example: Redeemer, Columbia
This will make it easier for us to organize Conference caucuses.
