June 15-17, 2018 at Newberry College
Ages: Rising 7th Graders through Graduated High School Seniors. Please do not ask for exceptions.
10am Friday through Noon on Sunday
At our annual LCY Convention, we meet Jesus together and celebrate the ministry we share! We will join in large and small groups to learn, grow, play, and build community together, and conduct the business of our synod's youth organization, SCLCY. This is a perfect opportunity for youth and adults to meet new people from around South Carolina, and see what it means that we're Church together in the ELCA!
*** There is an ADULT GROUP!!! *** Adult Leaders are welcome all weekend as participants for our Adult Workshops. Please fill out the registration the same as your youth. We will have a session to talk about the ELCA Youth Gathering.
We will have three tracks at Convention:
Living Faith: GRACE Changes Everything! This is the track most will be on. We'll have workshops to talk about living out our faith in a way that helps us learn how God's GRACE changes everything through the death and resurrection of Jesus! This will be a time of both activities and workshops, and the closer we get to having it all ready, the more excited we're all getting.
WORSHIPUp to 10 youth will have an opportunity to follow the WORSHIP track, headed up by our Chaplain Ally McDonough. This group will spend their small group time while others are on the STAND FREE track preparing Friday and Saturday devotions and Sunday worship. The idea is for us to use all our senses and creativity to create worship experiences that will be holy and fun.
DRAMAUp to 15 youth will have an opportunity to follow the DRAMA track, headed up by a Lavone Griffin and Clint Eastham! This group will put together a 10-15 minute dramatic presentation for worship on Sunday morning that focuses on this year's theme of GRACE Changes Everything, and transitions into revealing the new theme for next year, which is a secret! Also, this group will conceive of and assemble an art piece to serve as a backdrop or icon for worship on Sunday morning. Throughout the weekend, we'll all be watching this piece of art take shape!
We're so excited to see how God is using us this year!

Our Emergency Health Form only needs to be completed once per school year or if you've had changes to your information, http://scsynod.us/lcymedicalinfo, so that we can have accurate information in the event of an emergency during which a parent or guardian cannot be contacted. You only have to fill out this form once per year, but note that we have added an option that allows you to grant LCY permission to administer aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen, or Benadryl if warranted.
