Santa Monica Mountains Educator Institute 2025
On behalf of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, (a park unit of the National Park Service) as well as our amazing park partners, we want to thank you for your interest in applying to this year's educator institute. Our goal is to provide an inclusive and inviting space for both experienced outdoor enthusiasts and also folks starting to venture into the world of outdoor education. 

This will be a 2-day institute (February 15 -16, 2025) that will consist of hands-on activities to be conducted both indoors and outdoors. Participants can expect to be mobile for portions of the day with visits to nearby park sites to be anticipated as well. Materials and supportive literature will be provided to participants throughout the course of the two days.

Participants can expect to commit to attending a follow up post-institute session to provide feedback. There will also be an opportunity to acquire a transportation stipend available for a future self-led trip to the recreation area. The institute will be first come first served, once we reach capacity, there will be a waitlist. February 15th session will be from 9 AM – 4:30 PM, while February 16th's session will be from 9 AM – 1 PM. Will you be able to commit to both days of the institute?  *
The teacher institute will be held at the Diamond X Ranch park site located in the Calabasas area of LA County. Are you interested in receiving a lodging stipend? (Stipend is $225, this is to cover 1 overnight stay) *
