This event, like most of our rides,Ā are for riders who identify as non binary, gender fluid, trans, femme, women, gender queer, two-spirited or any and all that identify outside of the gender binary. Ā
We want to acknowledge that we will be gathering and riding on Tongva andĀ AcjachemenĀ land.
This route was created as a multimodal loop from Los Angeles, utilizing Metrolink, neighborhood trails, state park gravel roads, rails-to-trails, bike paths, and surface streets. We will take Metrolink to the start on day one and from the finish on day two. If you are coming from outside of LA, you can meet us at the start of the route on day 1. Ā
Route stats:Ā
Day one is 30 miles with 2400 ft elevation gain and is 70% dirt (unpaved, a mix of trail and service road gravel) and 30% paved Ā
Day two is 25 milesĀ with only 400ft elevation gain and is 80% paved (mostly bike path), 20% dirt Ā
We give this route our šŗ Wolf (classic route) rating as it is between 25 and 55 miles each day and day one has 2400 ft of elevation. It is mostly rolling terrain, with a few sustained climbs and some short punchy grades that may require some hike-a-bike. On its own, day 2 would receive a š¢ Turtle (chill route) rating since it is mostly flat with a large amount of paved bike path.Ā
For terrain, both days get the š¦Lizard (dirt & gravel rating) The unpavedĀ surfaces range from hard-packed to gravel/sand, with some rutted and steep up/down sections. Day one is a mix of fire roads, blue-rated double trackĀ and tiny bit of blue-ratedĀ single track š. The paved surfaces both days are primarily bike paths or bike lanes.Ā
A gravel, mtb, or touring bike with dirt tires 35mm or larger is ideal.Ā
This is a great first-time bikepacking route if you are used to riding similar terrain and mileage/elevation unloaded. However,Ā it is not recommended for someone entirely new to biking.Ā
There will be a dedicated ride sweep both days, but all riders are responsible for themselves and their decisions. Riders should be comfortable with the elevation gain, terrain, and mileage. This route is a great beginner bikepacker route.Ā
A GPS route, detailed email and suggested packing list will be provided to everyone that rsvps. Due to our limited capacity, priority will be given based on the order of RSVPs.Ā
There is no sag or outside support on this ride. Riders need to carry all their own camp supplies (food/water/shelter/tools). The campground has toilets, showers,Ā and running potable water.
These trips are all about the riding, the company, and spending time in nature, not how fast or far we can go. Be ready to take in the surroundings at an enjoyable pace.
