CAIR-WA's Legal Team is doing everything it can to assist in the evacuation of as many people from Afghanistan as possible, but we have limited capacity. Right now, we have requests on behalf of hundreds of individuals in Afghanistan that are seeking assistance repatriating, immigrating, or getting out through refugee resettlement. We are seeking volunteer attorneys and other legal professionals, students, and support staff to help our team process requests, register for flights, and file applications for SIVs, Humanitarian Parole, and P2 refugee status where possible.  

Our work will center on the following:

🔵 1)  Assisting US Citizens (USCs), US Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs), individuals who have already received Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) or who have approved SIV petitions, and the spouses and minor unmarried children of USCs or LPRs who already have pending visa petitions to register for repatriation flights;

🔵 2)  Providing up-to-date guidance to those already registered for repatriation flights on when and how to safely reach Hamid Karzai International Airport;

🔵 3)  Evaluating individuals without status or pending visa applications for eligibility for SIV, P2 refugee status, or Humanitarian Parole;

🔵 4)  Drafting and filing SIV and Humanitarian Parole petitions, and P2 referrals.

We will provide as much training and support as we can, but we are limited on time and capacity and this is a very quickly unfolding situation, so listing your experience and capacities as accurately as possible will allow us to assign you to areas where you will be the most valuable.
