Survey of Tools for Risk Assessment of Nanomaterials under Development in EU and US Research Projects
Thank you for your participation.
For the purpose of this questionnaire please note the following:
• Methods are systematic and/or established procedures for accomplishing certain aspects of the risk assessment. Examples include in vitro and vivo tests, Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR) and pharmacokinetic modelling for collecting information on the hazard; exposure monitoring, models for determining exposure; and expert elicitation, weight of evidence, risk or control banding for estimating risk, etc.
• Tools are implements (based on methods) used to carry out particular functions or accomplish specific tasks. They can be specific models or experimental protocols. Examples include Stoffenmanager nano model (for determining exposure potential and risk based on control banding), a specific dispersion protocol (based on the method sonication), a specific OECD in vivo testing protocol, a QSAR model for prediction of oxidative stress from metal oxides, etc.
