2018 ISC Ocean Science Exploration Camp Registration
The world’s oceans occupy nearly ¾ of the Earth’s surface and provide approximately 300 times more space for life than that provided by land and freshwater combined. The Earth’s earliest organisms are thought to have originated in the ancient oceans, and today, there are more types of animals in the oceans than in freshwater or on land. The Summer 2018 session of the Inner Space Center's (ISC's) Ocean Science Exploration Camp will take place from July 23-27, 2018, and will focus on biological oceanography. Biological oceanography is the study of marine animals, their distribution and abundance, and how they interact with and adapt to the ocean environment.

During this week-long, day camp, campers will follow the dynamic, ocean food chain, starting at the bottom with microscopic life and culminating with large, macroscopic predators such as sharks and whales. Using the tools of
biological oceanographers, campers will explore the physiology of survival in diverse marine environments, from the shallow ocean to the deep, dark, benthic environments found along the ocean seafloor, as well as investigate how climate change is influencing life in the oceans.

This week-long program will cost $495 per camper (plus a 3% processing fee for credit card payments). A 15% discount is available to current University of Rhode Island faculty and staff. Please e-mail Holly Morin, holly_morin@uri.edu, for details.

To reserve a spot for your child in the July 2018 session of the ISC's Ocean Science Exploration Camp, please complete the registration form below. Upon receipt of this form, an electronic invoice will be emailed to you. It will need to be paid within one week. You may choose to either pay the full amount of camp costs (as stated above) or at least a 50% deposit. Once this initial payment is received, your child will be officially registered for the July 2018 session of ISC Ocean Science Exploration Camp. Only one registration may be completed at a time. All final payments for camp will be due on or before Friday, July 6, 2018.

Please note, only this one week of Biological Oceanography camp is being offered; no additional weeks of this camp will be added. Registration is on a first come/first serve basis. Registration will be capped at 25, at which time the camp will be full.
