Have you ever watched a TED talk and thought, "I would love to be a part of something so big and amazing?"

Are you a person that loves to get to know people and share what you learn on stage?

Are you naturally funny and comfortable in front of a crowd?

At TEDxDurango, we believe the EMCEE for our show is just as important as our speakers and entertainers. Our theme for this year is "Find the Humor." We are asking all of our speakers to sprinkle a little humor in their Talk. Your job for the day will be to entertain the audience while creating an environment of humor and connection.

TEDxDurango is being created to foster and present innovative and inspiring ideas that will then be taken into the world to make change. We believe one way to accomplish this giant task is to touch the hearts and minds of the audience. And, we all know that laughter is a great starting point.

The role of EMCEE at TEDxDurango is not for the faint of heart. You will be asked to get to know each of the speakers and work with them to create a unique and humorous introduction. You will also be working with a team to create the script for our entire daylong conference. As you know, the EMCEE of any event sets the tone and pace. It is a spectacular opportunity for you to showcase your own talents and ideas about changing the world.

Knowing all of this, are you up for the challenge? We will be taking applications until August 1. Then we will host a live audition in Durango, CO, later in August. If you believe you have the unique skills and talents to be the EMCEE at the first ever TEDxDurango, please complete the application below.

If you do not have any video or any previous performances, why should we consider you for EMCEE? What skills and talents do you have?
Your answer
TEDxDurango is a fully volunteer event. All speakers, performers, EMCEE and the entire planning committee are volunteer. You will receive a professional video of your performance just like all the speakers. Are you willing to volunteer?
About TEDx x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.) TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. All TEDx events are volunteer endeavors.
About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California almost 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes on a diverse mix of topics. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The TED2014 Conference takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia, along with the TEDActive simulcast in neighboring Whistler. TEDGlobal 2014 will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; and TEDBooks, short e-books on powerful ideas. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
