In order to get, or maintain, a SERC Library account, you must work, live or go to school in Connecticut.
If you are a new user, once the SERC Library staff verify your registration information and you are eligible for an account, you will receive a Welcome email with your library card number and default password so that you can start logging into the SERC Library catalog and placing holds/reserves on library materials. If you do not receive a Welcome email in your inbox, please check your Spam /Junk folder.
If you are a return user, once the SERC Library staff verify your registration information and verify that you are still eligible for an account, you will receive an email that your account has been updated. This may involve a new library card number or a notification that you will need to sign the updated Policy and Procedures or updated Restricted Patron forms on your next visit.
BEFORE YOU CAN RECEIVE YOUR PHYSICAL LIBRARY CARD, CHECK OUT MATERIALS FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND IN ORDER TO CONFIRM YOUR NEW ACCOUNT OR ACCOUNT UPDATE...
- SERC Library staff will need to see your valid government-issued photo ID; this number will be recorded to ensure we can verify patron accounts when patrons share the same name, or change address/job and want to update their account.
- You will also need to sign a print copy of the Library Policies and Procedures document in-person. Among other things, this document confirms that you assume financial responsibility for the materials borrowed on your card and agree to follow the stated rules of the SERC Library.
- If you wish to check out any restricted test material, there is a Restricted Patron form you will have to sign in-person as well.
The above needs to be done within 30 days or the account will expire. Users can always reapply later.
