PDSCLS 1L Representative Application
The Public Defender Students of Columbia Law School (PDSCLS) is the only student organization at Columbia Law dedicated to students who intend to pursue careers in any area of indigent defense, including criminal, appellate, civil, family, juvenile, and immigration. PDSCLS supports future public defenders by leading programming on public defense, creating workshops on 1L summer, 2L summer, and post-graduation employment, assisting students through every step of the application process, and fostering a supportive and strong public defense community.

This year, we intend to do even more to support and grow the public defense community at Columbia. We heavily encourage 1Ls who are interested in public defense to apply to the PDSCLS board. Joining as a 1L Representative is an amazing opportunity to get involved early with the public defense community at CLS, and take part in the many events and projects we lead. 1L Representatives work closely with the entire PDSCLS board to plan and execute events both at Columbia, and in the greater NYC area.

We welcome all applications, regardless of your area of interest in public defense.

Applications are due Monday, September 25th.

If you have any questions about the application, please contact Mitchell Schwartz at mes2310@columbia.edu

New board members are responsible for putting on one event in the spring. Do you have any ideas for speakers or panels that you might want to bring to campus? (It's okay if you don't right now, the board helps come up with ideas.)
